Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and KitCut (kitcut.ai) when you use the service. By creating an account or making a film, you accept them. Questions go to [email protected].

The service

KitCut makes short animated films from an idea you give it. The films are made by AI (Claude, with other AI models for the voice and the painted look), so results vary, and a film may contain mistakes. Check a film before you rely on it or publish it.

Your account

You need an account to make films. Keep access to your email and Google account safe: anyone who can sign in as you can use your credits. You must be at least 13, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.

Credits and plans

• One credit is one second of film. Every film uses at least 30 credits. A film's length is chosen before it is made, and that is what it costs.
• Free accounts get a monthly allowance of credits. Standard and Pro are monthly subscriptions, billed in advance by Stripe, and give a set number of minutes each month.
• Unused minutes do not carry over to the next month.
• If a film fails, its credits come back to you automatically.
• You can change your plan at any time on the pricing page, and cancel it under "Manage billing" on your account page. A move up applies at once, and you pay the difference for the rest of the month. A move down or a cancellation takes effect when the month ends.
• Payments already made are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
• We may change prices or plans. A change applies to you from your next billing month, and we tell you before it does.

Invitations

• You can invite people to KitCut with your invite link. When someone who is new to KitCut joins through it and meets the conditions (for example, their first film is finished, or they subscribe), you and they receive credits. The amounts and conditions in force are on kitcut.ai/docs/invite-friends.
• Only genuine new people count. Inviting yourself (through another address, including an alias of your own), using disposable email addresses, or creating accounts to collect credits earns nothing, and we may take back credits earned that way and suspend the accounts involved. We may check an invitation before paying it.
• Do not send invitations as spam, or share your link where that breaks the rules of the place you post it.
• If a payment that earned credits is refunded or disputed, the credits it earned are taken back.
• Invitation credits have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged. They expire as stated when you receive them.
• We may change or end invitations at any time. Credits already received are kept until they expire.

Your content and your films

• You keep the rights you have in what you give us: your idea, pictures and voice notes. You give KitCut permission to use them to make your films.
• You may use the films made for you for any lawful purpose, including commercially. Films made on the Free plan carry a small KitCut mark and a short KitCut ending, which you agree to leave in place.
• Films made on kitcut.ai are public: each has its own page, and finished films can appear in our gallery. Films made through an assistant are link-only unless you ask for them to be public. You give KitCut permission to show your films on kitcut.ai and to share them to promote KitCut. Ask us, and we take a film out of the gallery.
• AI-made work may resemble other work, and may not be protectable by copyright everywhere. We make no promise that a film is unique or that you can register it.

What you must not do

• Upload anything you do not have the right to use, including other people's photos, logos or voices without their permission.
• Ask for films that are illegal, sexual content involving minors, harassment, threats, hate, or material meant to deceive, such as impersonating a real person or passing a film off as real footage of real events.
• Try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, or resell it without our written agreement.

We may refuse a request, remove a film, or suspend an account that breaks these rules.

Publishing to YouTube

If you connect a YouTube channel, KitCut publishes films there only when you ask it to. You must have the right to publish to that channel, and what you publish is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. How we handle the connection is described in our privacy policy.

Using KitCut through an assistant

If you connect KitCut to an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Meta AI or another app), the assistant acts for you: films it asks for use your credits as if you had asked for them, and these terms apply to them. You are responsible for what you let it do. The assistant itself is run by its own maker under its own terms. You can disconnect it at any time on your account page. How we handle the connection is described in our privacy policy.

No guarantees

KitCut is provided as it is. We work to keep it running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, KitCut is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending

You can stop using KitCut and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms, and we may close the service with 30 days' notice, in which case we refund the unused part of any paid month.

Changes

We may update these terms. We change the date at the top, and tell account holders by email before a significant change takes effect. Using KitCut after a change means you accept it.
