The iPhone app
KitCut for iPhone makes the same films as the website, from the same account. Films, credits, projects and plans are shared: a film asked for on the phone is on the website too, and the other way round.
Signing in
- Continue with Apple, Continue with Google, or your email: KitCut emails a 6-digit code, which you type into the app.
- One email address is one KitCut account, whichever way you sign in. If Apple's Hide My Email is chosen, the account is made for that private relay address; on the website, sign in with an emailed link to that address (Apple forwards it to your inbox).
- A new account starts with a free 7-day trial of Pro before its first film, as on the website (see Plans and credits).
Making a film
The Make tab has:
- The idea, and Add for pictures (a character, a logo, a product; up to 9) and text files (.txt or .md; up to 3). Voice notes are added on the website.
- Project, shown when the account has projects: the film becomes an episode of the one picked, with its brief, cast and pictures. Projects are made and changed on the website.
- Size: Wide 16:9, Tall 9:16 (a Short, with the narration written into the picture, up to 3:00) or Square 1:1.
- Look: drawn, painted or collage (Looks).
- Length: a slider up to your plan's longest film. Under it, what the film uses and what is left. A film uses at least 30 credits.
Make the film sends it to the studio and opens its page, which shows what Claude is doing, step by step, as the website's film page does, with Stop. The app can be closed meanwhile; the film carries on, and opening it again picks up where it is. A finished film plays in the app and has Share.
The Films tab lists every film of your workspace, newest first, including those still being made.
Pro through the App Store
In the app, Pro is bought through Apple: the same amounts and the same prices as on the website, billed monthly to your Apple Account, starting with a free 7-day trial (with 2 minutes of film) if the account has not had one.
- The minutes arrive once Apple confirms the payment, usually within seconds; each month's minutes arrive with that month's renewal.
- Change or cancel a plan bought in the app in your iPhone's Settings > your name > Subscriptions (or Manage subscription on the app's Account tab). It cannot be changed on the website, which says so.
- Restore purchases (Account tab) brings back a plan bought with the same Apple Account, for example on a new phone.
- A plan bought on the website is used in the app as it is, and is changed on the website.
Deleting your account
Account > Delete account signs you out at once, and your account, films and credits are deleted within 7 days. An App Store subscription is Apple's: cancel it in Settings first, or Apple keeps renewing it.
